Hyperbolic lens

Contributor: Stas Fainer

This is a simulation and comparison between the hyperbolic and spherical lenses. Both lenses have identical focal lengths, but as opposed to the spherical lens, the hyperbolic lens can collimate a parallel beam of monochromatic light to a single point (neglecting the wave nature of light - i.e in the geometric optics approximation) without spherical aberrations.
