Inferior mirage

Contributor: Stas Fainer

This is a simulation of the Inferior mirage effect. The sky with this effect is modeled (specifically in this example) with the refractive index \(n(y)=\sqrt{1 + (\frac{y}{h})^2 }\), where \(h=600\) represents the height of the sun above the ground. In this simulation the sky is composed of rectangles with constant refractive index according to \(n(y)\). This simulation aims to demonstrate this effect qualitatively.
